Traveling through the waterways
Explore the peaceful rivers and thrilling rapids of Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka may be a small of an island, but it contains no less than 103 rivers and numerous lagoons, lakes, man-made reservoirs, and interconnected canals - all of which provide unique surroundings for canoeing, kayaking and white water rafting.

Kalu Ganga (‘Black River’) offers a perfect setting for long distances and several day canoeing trips. The 3 days 2 nights trip from Ratnapura to Kalutara, with a total distance of 76 km, is reserved for experienced canoeists. Along the way, your accommodation will be arranged at Eco Team’s fully serviced canoeing campsites in the most beautiful settings by the river.

Kitulgala’s climate is humid throughout the year which makes it an ideal destination for white water rafting. The thrilling adventure on the whitewater sections of the Kelani River is enjoyable for both beginners and professionals. Whether you are 11 or 75 years, our professionally trained guides will make sure you have a safe and fun day on the river. During this wilderness adventure, paddle down pristine water and exciting, class 2 to 3+ rapids. On certain occasions, you may encounter even grade 4 and 4 + rapids.

Those who prefer enjoying the river and its wonderful scenery without the thrills and spills of large rapids, can go rafting on the flatter section down the lower gorge, suitable for children over six years and family groups.

We provide you with experienced guides and instructors and high-quality equipment, including life jackets and helmets. While we take all the precautions to ensure the safety of our guests, we remind you to to heed the advice of the guides/instructors at all times.
