Living With People

A tour through the unfiltered natural beauty of rural Sri Lanka

The purpose of the tour is to introduce foreigners keen on experiencing the Sri Lankan way of a life, an unfiltered vacation experience. The tour is designed to take you through many villages holding different communities and cultures, showing you how multi-ethnic and multi-religious groups of people live in harmony whilst protecting their age of traditions.

The tour will begin with you heading to Negombo, a fishing town followed by a trip to Kalpitiya to experience the marshes and lagoons as well as view one of the largest communities that make up the dry fishing industry. From Kalpitiya you will proceed to Anuradhapura, where you will be stopping at a village of the Kaffir community. The Kaffirs are descendants of African slaves who were brought down to Sri Lanka during times of colonization. Afterwards you will be heading to Dambana and Meemure, the home of Sri Lanka’s indigenous tribe. Here you will learn more about the primitive Sri Lankans and have the opportunity witness their lifestyle which has not changed despite the change of times.

In order to understand more about the high Buddhist influence in Sri Lanka, you will be heading to Kandy to visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and watch the daily ritualistic ceremony. Afterwards you can have the opportunity to tour around the last kingdom of Sri Lanka before departing to Haputale via train. The train ride is an experience to take you back through time, in the same trains and same tracks laid by the British during their colonization of Sri Lanka. In Haputale, you will be visiting the Lipton’s Seat; the lookout point of the Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton. Afterwards you will go on a bicycle trek to Belihuloya, to a village of blacksmiths.

The last leg of the trip will be spent down south in the beaches of Tangalle, Galle and Bentota respectively before you catch your flight back home. Here you will visit some of the most iconic locations in the south of Sri Lanka including the Galle Dutch Fort, go on a Madu River excursion and experience the mangrove islands inhabited with people, visit the Rekawa turtle sanctuary, witness cinnamon peeling and have some fun on the beach.
