Ride through the local villages, encountering the local people at their day to day activities and be engaged in their activities with them would be really amazing. Riding in the curvy and uphill dirt roads would be more challenging, but would be a fun filled thrilling adventure to be mesmerized. 

Step off the tuk tuk when you feel like it and engage with the activities of Sri Lankans: whether it is by the bustling road side, in the serene paddy fields or the wondrous tea bushes of this country which is blessed with such varied landscape. Fun, challenging and memorable.

Engage in activities like tea plucking with local tea women, make your own clay pot at a village pottery house, experiencing a thrilling white water rafting expedition and a safari drive in Udawalawe National Park would be the other highlights of this Tuk Tuk Challenge.

The Tuk Tuk Challenge will take you from white water rafting, safari rides in the Udawalawe National Park, matching the nifty tea plucking skills of our talented women to creating a clay pot at a humble pottery home.

Adding value to your Tuk Tuk Adventure, you have the option of being involved in a community project in Udawalawe where you could contribute to rehabilitate a village school in a remote area.

You can also give back to the community by getting involved in a community project in Udawalawe or help to rehabilitate a rural school. Here’s a chance to give back - as you enjoy.

Summary of the programme

  • Day 01 –  Arrive at Colombo International Airport

  • Day 02 –  Start the journey to Kitulgala in tuk-tuk

  • Day 03 –  Start the journey From Kitulgala to Nuwara Eliya via Nawalapitiya & Talawakelle by tuk-tuk.

  • Day 04 –  Start the journey From Nuwara Eliya to Ella via Bandarawela by tuk-tuk.

  • Day 05 –  CSR Activity at a remote village school in Udawalawe.

  • Day 06 –  Start the journey From Udawalawe to Unawatuna by tuk-tuk.

  • Day 07 –  Relax in the evening by the beach Unawatuna.
  • Day 08 –  Departure to your next destination.

Detailed Itinerary

Important Factors

  • It’s a must to obtain a special licence issued by Automobile Association of Sri Lanka (AA)

  • Make sure you carry the international driving licence along with the locally issued licence by Automobile Association

  • Maximum 2 persons per Tuk

  • Make sure to refill the fuel tank daily

  • Carry out daily checks on breaks, clutch and accelerator

  • Always drive on the left lane

  • Do not drive at more than 40 kmph

  • Do not violate the traffic rules and regulations prevailing in Sri Lanka

  • Your baggage will be transferred in a baggage lorry - please have a small pack to take your essentials when driving the tuk tuk
